Thunderbird: Deleting mails is very slow

Issue: Deleting mails into recycle bin is very slow

Deletion of each mail causes multiple seconds delay.

Solution: Re-initialize the recycle bin

The recycle bin files in the Thunderbird data directory need to be deleted. They are recreated automatically by Thunderbird. Compressing the recycle bin folder (even if it is empty) is not sufficient.
